Top-class 27-hole championship golf course with immaculate fairways
Originally built in 1993 on the site of an old rubber plantation, Tropicana Golf & Country Resort is a top-class 27-hole championship golf course featuring some of the most immaculate fairways to be found anywhere in Malaysia. Set in a beautiful landscape of exotic trees and colourful plants, the course features extensive bunkers, plenty of elevation changes and narrow tree-lined fairways whose immaculate conditioning leaves your ball sitting up beautifully.
The East Course 1 opens with a very beautiful and challenging par-4 that arcs around water, framed by a series of waterfalls. It's an intimidating tee shot, but if you play too safe away from the water then you bring a large bunker into play approach. There's sand both sides of the 2nd fairway, and another trio of sand traps around the green while the 3rd is a very pretty par 3 with sand front and right and water left and back of the green.
The pick of the front nine is the 9th, a 369-yard par 4 with a fairway that narrows drastically as it routes around a large lake. Three sand traps protect the small green, making this one of the more demanding approach shots on the course.
There's less water to deal with on East Course 2, with the bunkers providing the main threat, notably at the par-5 5th, where a huge bunker sits right in the landing zone for your second shot. That's just a prelude to the epic series of bunkers surrounding the green, leaving you playing target golf - if your approach doesn't land on the green, you're in trouble.
The 9th is another bunker-heavy par-5, with sand both sides of the fairway and on all sides of the green, and the narrowing fairway stops some way short of the green so you can be left with an awkward chip if you fall short.
On the supposedly easier West Course the pick are the water-heavy series of holes starting at the 13th, a short par-4 where a lake means you either have to go very long or very short off the tee. It's a dilemma repeated at the 14th, although the decision to lay up is an easier one as it's quite the carry to reach the far side of the lake off the tee.
Overall Tropicana Golf & Country Resort is a superb course kept in impeccable condition, especially the fairways. An excellent drainage system ensures you can avoid long delays after rain, and non-glare floodlights allow golf to continue late into the evening, allowing for late starts. Highly recommended on any golf holiday in Kuala Lumpur.

Enjoyable game of golf
We played 10-18 West and 1-9:East. East was in better condition than West but overall good condition for both courses. Our male caddie, Ishmi was excellent. He provided information on every hole and his green readings were spot on! He was very chatty which we liked. Clubhouse is very grand and the facilities were good. Unfortunately we were told the driving range was for members only but we were able to practice chipping and putting near the 10th tee before starting our round. Small pro shop but comfortable cafe with good wifi connection. Pace of play was good, just over 4 hrs for 18 holes. Snack food and drinks available on the course. We really enjoyed our game here.No bunker hit is key point!
This is second time to play ,we appreciate that course allow us two some every time! But we feel green condition is still tough , I cannot read the line and cannot meet the undulations. We hope better play could be next time.Difficult to read putting line on the green.
Good maintenance and good location, If you are low or high handicap player , also can enjoy play! And just 30minutes drive from La la port at Pudu!Course Info
