The Mines Resort & Golf Club
About
This highly-regarded championship course is a marvel of environment restoration
Located on the site of what was once the world's largest open cast tin mine, The Mines Resort & Golf Club is an 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. that has picked up numerous awards, including Best Championship Golf Course in Malaysia in 2003 by Asian Golf Monthly. Host of numerous professional events, including the World Cup of Golf won by Tiger Woods in 1997, it's a marvel of environment restoration, with the once contaminated land of the mine transformed into one of Malaysia's best and most beautiful courses.
Despite the pedigree of those that have played here, the course is pretty golfer-friendly off the tee, with wide and accommodating fairways. Accurate approach shots are required to reach the well-contoured greens, with grassy roll-offs and hollows designed to punish anything that doesn't find the target.
The front nine of the course winds through natural and jungle-bordered terrain, with occasional water hazards and impressive bunkering around the greens. The natural elevation changes create some of the course's most memorable holes, such as the risk-reward, downhill, short par-4 6th and the plunging par-4 9th with its breathtaking backdrop.
One standout hole is the par-3 2nd, which requires a shot across a jungle-filled ravine toward a majestic tree with roots that appear more above than below ground. The jungle gives way to a lakeside back-nine, where the course plays alongside the large Mines Resort lake. The par-5 17th notably features has a plaque commemorating the eagle made by Tiger Woods during the 1999 World Cup.
In addition to the tremendous golf course, the Mines Resort has a splendid clubhouse, a driving range, golfers' terrace as well as meeting and conference rooms. The Mines Resort is one of Malaysia’s top golf courses and is considered a must-visit when in Kuala Lumpur.

Registration quick and easy. Excellent male caddy., Siva (5 handicap!). Gave lots of information on the course and read greens very well. Course was quiet so played 18 holes under 4 hrs. Carts allowed on fairways. Course in good condition though a little wet in places. Greens good. Lots of water to hit over or along side. Not long but undulating fairways. Good service all round. Facilities a little dated. Enjoyed our game and would play here again.Course Info
