Impian Golf & Country Club
About
Attractive, challenging championship course
Located just 40 minutes from the city in a very beautiful tropical jungle setting, the Impian Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur is a championship golf course recognized as being one of the better golf courses in the area. It's an attractive, challenging layout that winds its way through a flat plateau bordered by trees, punctuated by various climbs and drops en route to greens rated among the country's best.
After a gentle opener with a generous landing area abutted by fairway bunkers to the left, things toughen up with a 200-yard par-3 with a green protected by bunkers in front. The shortish par-5 that follows offers an opportunity to pick up a shot in advance of the hardest hole, a long par-4 requiring an accurate tee shot to the left side of the fairway in order to avoid the substantial bunker and leave a direct line on approach.
The 5th is a long zigzag-shaped par-5 with a green protected by water in front and bunkers either side, and there's more water on the closing holes of the front nine, with the 8th requiring a forced carry off the tee and the 9th featuring water all the down the left side of the hole.
The 10th is a tough start to the back nine, its small elevated green guarded by three bunkers, while the very pretty signature 11th requires a long, nervy approach over water to reach the green in regulation, although shorter hitters do have the option of playing around.
The uneven fairway of the par-4 13th and the plateau green at the very long 15th ensure you've got to be on your game to score well, althouhgh the 17th should offer the chance to pick up a shot if you can avoid the fairway bunkers off the tee and the pond along the right with your second. The well-protected and heavily contoured putting surface at the 18th means there's still time for one more blemish on your card thanks to the lightning quick, undulating greens.
Away from the course itself, Impian Golf & Country Club features a pro-shop, practice green and several restaurants as well as a whole host of other recreational facilities.
Reviews
Nice, but with lack of some maintenance
The course is great and because the fairways are very dry it's hard to play. The scenery is terrific. Overall a nice course for a very good priceGood value
Considering Impian GC is less than half the cost of other courses around KL, we thought it was good value. Its condition was not far behind the other more expensive golf clubs. Greens were very good, fairways a little brown in places. Very undulating so worth paying small extra charge to drive carts on the fairways. A pretty course with water and jungle. Our caddy was friendly and knew the course and greens well. Club house and facilities are dated but functional.Challenging and narrow golf course.
Challenging and narrow golf courses. Visitors parking is not connected to the clubhouse, but has a buggy service. Experience only available local Malaysian man caddie. Has halfway hut serving drinks and light food. Virtual wardrobe space with hot shower. Plastic bags have a price of 20cents. Red , white, blue and black tee golf.Course Info
